Are you, or do you know of, an electrician who can sell?  And I mean ‘sell’ in the positive/constructive sense of the word, selling business-to-business for a commercial electrical contracting firm ie no domestic work.

This is a very unusual vacancy for a special person whose income will be uncapped, and who may grow the role to the point where they employ and manage a business development team. Synopsis

Engineering Consultancy based in Midland seeks local NED experienced in promoting business growth by mergers/acquisitions to join established board for term of 5+ years.

Role

A paid non-executive director alongside 3 other directors, guiding achievement of a comprehensive strategic plan for growth both organically and by mergers/acquisitions.

Board

A formal board has operated for over a decade in accordance with an annual calendar.  Board members receive from management a comprehensive board pack one week before each monthly board meeting.  The company exercises strong financial disciplines and reporting.  Board meetings last 3-4 hours including at least 1 hour of long-term strategy formulation/review.  Directors commit to an average of about 10 hours per month including preparation for and attendance at board meetings, follow-up, intra-board liaison, and allowance for an annual strategic planning day plus two half-day events including the annual risk management review.  There is also a monthly 1 hour meeting with shareholders.  Nearly all meetings occur in the Midland area. The appointed person will be expected to commit for a period of 5+ years during which time they may be invited to participate in ownership of the company.  Board practices are very transparent including reports to staff and shareholders, and annual 360 performance reviews by fellow board members.
