Agree with you, ppl are leaving because of their environment and it is driven by the management, most of all from direct manager... and sometimes it sucks! but as an employee, you feel a lot of time like 'what can I do? Unless I'm leaving the job of my dreams because my manager is an jerk?' and how would you raise that to the top management without being the one that goes over your manager and makes the situation worst?... thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This is also practiced by "The Economist" in its conferences , government roundtables, and it's "Economist Corporate Network" (along similar lines to TEC). The "off the record" aspect of the Chatham House Rule is particularly powerful. It encourages the truth to come out, by giving people more security. It brings the security and dynamic of a 1:1 discussion to add nuance and value to a larger group. It is very powerful when inlcuding politicians in the discussion because it can neutralise the constraints of spin and the urge to go on a political rant. Imagine the ABC's Q&A with the Chatham House Rule (then it would not be a TV show, but the things that they could achive and the insights that would be produced!).

Agreeing with Howard is think the content is worth reading but the title made me not expect to read about how to approach the resistance to change but how to help a potential buyer to decide - now.

Could a honest question a long the line of "It seems difficult to decide now. What questions need to be answered to make a decision possible?" be of constructive step forward? What do you think?
